CollegePoint – A Free College Advising Program

FOR JUNIORS

CollegePoint is a free program that offers high-achieving juniors from lower-income households an extra layer of support that will help them on their journey to college.

Students enrolled in CollegePoint have access to a personal college advisor during the spring of their junior year and through their senior year of high school. They can contact their advisor to discuss and get support with anything college-related, from the application process to essay writing support and financial aid.

This advising initiative, supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, is designed to supplement the important work that your guidance counselors are already doing. Students who take advantage of this opportunity are encouraged to share the details of their participation and their advisors’ contact information with their guidance counselors. Students are under no obligation to sign up for this program and can opt out at any point.

This spring, select students in the class of 2022 will receive invitations from the College Board’s Access to Opportunity program on behalf of CollegePoint to connect them with additional supports. Students invited to participate are high achieving—their scores are in the top 10th percentiles nationally on the PSAT/NMSQT® or SAT®—but may come from a low- or moderate-income household.

If you meet the following requirements, you may be eligible for free advising:

  • You are a US high school student on track to graduate in the class of 2022
  • You have a GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • You have taken a standardized test (PSAT/NMSQT, SAT, and/or ACT) and scored in the 90th percentile or higher – 1310+ on the SAT, 1270+ on the PSAT, or 28+ on the ACT.
  • Your family’s annual income is $80,000 or less

If you have not taken a standardized test OR you scored below the 90th percentile, you may still qualify for CollegePoint if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are a US high school student on track to graduate in the class of 2022
  • You have a GPA of 3.7 or higher
  • You have taken or are currently enrolled in at least 2 college-level courses (AP, IB or dual enrollment) within your first 3 years of high school.
  • Your family’s annual income is $80,000 or less
