The Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn ( UUCGL ) is pleased to invite high school seniors attending public schools in Swampscott and Lynn to apply for college scholarship funding. Consistent with our church’s years of community commitment and involvement, the Scholarship Committee seeks to grant one-time college scholarships to students who: (1) demonstrate financial need, OR (2) are members of a minority community, OR (3) are first-generation college students, OR (4) have a proven record of commitment to community and/or social action. High academic achievement is not required for consideration. Instead, they seek applicants who possess a commitment to bettering their community and their own circumstances. The amount(s) of the scholarship(s) awarded will range from $500 to $2,500, and will be awarded to one or more students.
If you’re able to print, complete, scan and save the application, then do so. Otherwise, open the document, erase the underlined areas, type in the necessary information, and save it.
In an email to your guidance counselor, attach a completed application and all supporting documents (even if you have to take VERY CLEAR pictures as an attachment). You are the only person with access to (1) the SAR or CSS Profile and (2) the college’s financial aid award letter, so you need to make sure that you include those two documents. If your guidance counselor wrote a recommendation, it can be used as one reference. If you don’t have access to your recommendations, email the recommenders and ask them to email it to you. Your guidance counselor will be able to provide the transcript. The application and all supporting documents should be sent in ONE email to your guidance counselor by 8:00 AM, Wednesday, May 20, 2020. If you need assistance, email your guidance counselor.
