The Will McDonough Writing Contest
The Sports Museum is once again accepting entries for The Will McDonough Writing Contest. Students in grades 4-12 are encouraged to apply.
The contest is named in honor of the longtime Boston Globe sports columnist and is designed to get kids excited about writing by exploring New England’s greatest passion: sports!
Essays will be judged on topic development, organization, style, and mechanics. Entries from schools will be accepted online through www.sportsmuseum.org or via US mail. The deadline for submission is March 8, 2022. The winners will be announced via The Sports Museum’s website on March 18.
First-place winners, along with their families, writers and editors from the Boston Globe, and members of the McDonough family will be invited to participate in an award ceremony at the Sports Museum within the TD Garden. The awards ceremony will take place prior to the Celtics vs. Indiana Pacers game on April 1st. First-place winners will also receive tickets to the Celtics game and a Kindle. Additionally, their essays will be featured in the Will McDonough Exhibit in The Sports Museum, located within the TD Garden.
Second-place winners will receive a Kindle, and Honorable Mentions will receive four (4) passes to The Sports Museum.
