Our Mission
Our mission of college affordability since our founding has been to help Massachusetts students and families access and afford higher education and reach financial goals through education programs, tax-advantaged savings plans, low-cost loans, and expert guidance. All of our work aligns with our ever-present goal to support the independence, growth, and success of Massachusetts residents.
A Tradition of Service
The Massachusetts state legislature created MEFA in 1982 at the request of colleges and universities across the state. From the start, our mandate has been to offer low-cost college financing to families of aspiring college students.
