Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation Scholarship

FOR SENIORS

On September 11, 2001 Mark Bavis lost his life aboard United Airlines flight 175 which struck the South Tower of the World Trade Center. His loss was a devastating blow to the National Hockey League and all who knew and Loved him. The Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation was born out of Marks devotion to young men and women who are willing to work hard in their pursuit of success. Mark devoted much of his life to the development of young men and women, encouraging them to follow their dreams. He coached them in hockey, a game he loved, but more importantly, he was a role model, mentor and friend to them all. It is our hope that this Foundation will make a positive impact on its recipients and that they in turn will make an impact on the future of this country. That will be Mark’s continued and lasting legacy.

The family and friends of Mark Bavis have established a foundation in Marks name to preserve his memory and to perpetuate the principles by which he lived every day through which he touched many lives

The Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation was created to allow deserving young men and women to enjoy opportunities and experiences similar to those which contributed to Mark the person that he was.

We will accomplish this by providing selected recipients with annual grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 to be used as specifically requested for school tuition, summer programs and other appropriate extracurricular activities. These grants will be funded by income generated off of the Foundation’s capital. With the help of friends, individual benefactors and corporate sponsors, our near term goal is to endow the Foundation with $1,000,000, allowing us to award $50,000 in grants each year. Through the kindness and generosity of so many people, The Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation raised more than $400,000 representing nearly one half of our million dollar goal.

September 11, 2001 changed all our lives forever. We are determined to create something good and lasting out of this tragedy. We are determined that Mark’s spirit will endure and continue to enrich the lives of many. Your support and generosity in this regard is greatly appreciated.
