Lynn English High School Scholarship Criteria

Eligibility Requirements:

To be considered for this scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  1. Academic Excellence
    • Students must maintain a B average (3.0 GPA or higher) throughout high school.
  2. Character and Conduct
    • Students must demonstrate respectfulness, honesty, and a helpful nature within their school and community.
    • Their behavior and interactions with peers, teachers, and staff should reflect integrity and kindness.
  3. Essay Requirement
    • Applicants must submit a 150-word essay addressing the following prompt:
      “Describe a time when you demonstrated respect, honesty, and helpfulness. How did this experience shape you as a person?”
    • The essay should be well-written, thoughtful, and provide specific examples.
  4. Recommendation Letter
    • A guidance counselor recommendation is required to verify the student’s character and academic standing.

Application Deadline:

  • All application materials must be submitted by May 19th 2025.

The scholarship committee will review applications based on academic performance, character, essay quality, and recommendation strength.

JL11 Fund Organization Scholarship

FOR SENIORS

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization named after James Luti, a young man from our small town, who died by suicide on November 29,  2017.  He was an amazing man who’s life was cut short at age 16 from his struggle with mental health. He was an avid hockey and lacrosse player, and exhibited kindness and friendship with whomever he met.  In James’ memory, the Luti family created the organization to help create awareness around mental health and suicide.

Flora Epps Giving Fund Book Scholarship

FOR SENIORS

This scholarship is available to high school students graduating in May/June 2025. An acceptance letter from an accredited community college, vocational school, state college or university must already be received when you submit this application. The $500 Scholarship is in the form of a book store gift card to the college/university you will be attending. A completed application must be submitted to The Flora

The Huy Le Memorial Scholarship

FOR SENIORS

Established in memory of Huy Le, a beloved alumnus of Lynn English High School’s Class of 2009, this scholarship honors his legacy by supporting the next generation of leaders from the Lynn community.

This award is part of The Huy Le Foundation, an organization dedicated to uplifting and inspiring young adults to reach their fullest potential. The Foundation also seeks to amplify the stories of disadvantaged victims and their families—ensuring that their experiences are acknowledged, honored, and never forgotten.

Scholarship Details:
One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded.

Application Requirements:
Applicants must submit a minimum 250-word essay responding to the following prompt:
“What does the City of Lynn and its diversity mean to you? How will you carry those experiences into your future field or education? In what ways do you plan to give back to your community?”

Richard and Ellen Penley Health & Science Related Scholarship

The Richard and Ellen Penley Health & Science Related Scholarship was established in 2008 in memory of Ellen Farmer Penley.

The Penley Scholarship is slated for three graduating seniors in the Lynn Public Schools in the amount of $4,000 each. These students must show interest in the Health & Science related fields and who intend to increase their knowledge and education in that field by enrolling in a two or four year college.

You must submit the application to YOUR guidance counselor by 8:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2025.

SigEp Balanced Man Scholarship at UMass Amherst

FOR SENIORS

The Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at UMass Amherst awards the SigEp Balanced Man scholarship to incoming male freshmen at UMass Amherst. The scholarship awards three to four individuals, totaling $2000 in scholarship awards. The deadline to apply is September 10, 2025, but they encourage students to apply before the end of summer to allow us to efficiently evaluate all candidates.

Faith Scholarships for Academic Excellence

The Hellenic Women’s Club Scholarship

The Hellenic Women’s Club, Inc. EOK is pleased to announce that they are accepting applications for $5,000 scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year.

In 2011, the EOK Scholarship Fund was established in recognition of The Hellenic Women’s Club’s 75th anniversary. Each year, scholarships of $5,000 are awarded based on academic merit, community service, and leadership efforts. Recipients are presented at the Mistletoe Ball
to be held this year on Saturday, November 29, 2025. To date, EOK has given $430,000 to women who are dedicated to pursuing their higher education goals.

Gerondelis Foundation Scholarship

FOR SENIORS

For the 35thconsecutive year the Gerondelis Foundation, Inc., will grant college scholarships to first year college students in the amount of up to $7,500.00 each, depending on the number of qualified applicants who meet the following eligibility requirements:

The applicant must:

  • Reside or attend school in Essex County and be a member of the 2025 graduating class of any public or private high school;
  • Rank in the upper twenty percent of his or her class (This change is applicable for the 2025 application season); or have achieved a combined Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score and Math score of at least 1200 on the SAT test; or a composite score of 27 on the ACT;
  •  Officially be admitted to a four year college or university; and
  • Be of at least one-half Greek lineage.

The deadline is July 1, 2025.
