Since 1985, the Public Housing Authorities Directors Association(PHADA) has recognized and rewarded academic excellence in public and assisted housing youth through its scholarship program.

PHADA has implemented a scholarship program for graduating seniors preparing to enter college. The program aims to encourage academic excellence and community responsibility. Applicants must reside in PHADA member agency public or assisted housing. The BRHA is a proud member of PHADA.

The following three scholarships are available:

  • Stephen J. Bollinger Memorial Scholarship (One scholarship available: $7,000)
  • Civil Rights and Social Justice Scholarship (One scholarship available: $5,000)
  • Nan McKay Pathway to Achievement Scholarship (One scholarship available: $5,000)

Massachusetts Shellfish Officers Association Scholarship

The Massachusetts Shellfish Officers Association, a non-profit organization of municipal representatives, has established a financial assistance program.  Senior High School students enrolled in a higher education Marine Biology program and that are residents of a city or town that sponsors a representative to the M.S.O.A. (see listing) are eligible to apply for an award.

Neither need, nor high academic excellence is a criterion in the selection process.  Students showing consistent interest in Marine Biology are encouraged to apply.

Delta Kappa Gamma Society Scholarship

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. The DKG Epsilon Chapter is offering a $1000 scholarship to a member of the Class of 2026.

In order to be eligible, the following criteria must be met:

  1. The applicant must be a female high school student who resides in a DKG member community (Lynn, MA) in Essex County.
  2. The applicant must be pursuing a degree in education at a four-year college or university.
  3. The applicant must demonstrate leadership qualities and participate in school and community activities.

Application deadline is April 15, 2026.

Cell Signaling Scholarships

Cell Signaling Technology is currently offering eight scholarship opportunities worth $10,000 each, with an April 10, 2026 deadline. CST offers four Local Community Science Scholarships and four Racial Diversity in Science Scholarships. Students can apply for both scholarships, and the Local Community Scholarship will be considered first if a student qualifies for both. Both opportunities are available to graduating seniors who have committed to a STEM-related major at a 2 or 4-year accredited United States based college or university. Applicants must have or will complete an upper-level Science class. In addition, applicants must be either eligible for free/reduced lunch or be a first generation college student (first in their family).

The differences between the scholarship requirements are as follows:

Local Community Scholarship: Lynn, Salem, Peabody, Danvers, Beverly, or Gloucester.

Racial Diversity in Science Scholarship: Cities/Towns in Essex County, Massachusetts. Identify as a person of color (non-white)

Shell Technical Scholarship and Shell Incentive Fund Scholarship

The Shell Technical Scholarship and Shell Incentive Fund Scholarship have been created to provide financial and career assistance to graduating high school seniors who have expressed an interest in the energy industry and demonstrated an aptitude in mathematics and science.

In each program, Shell will sponsor up to 20 one-year awards of $2,500 for selected graduating high school seniors enrolling in engineering or geosciences at universities identified by Shell.

These scholarship programs support Shell’s objective of helping to ensure a qualified workforce in engineering and geosciences disciplines in future years. Workforce development is one of the highest priorities at Shell. Competition for talent is growing and Shell will be at the forefront in identifying young people with the skills to succeed by assisting with scholarships and providing exposure to career opportunities at the company.

Red Pine Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • US citizens and non-citizens are welcome to apply.
  • Permanent resident of Massachusetts.
  • Students must be able to prove their financial need for the scholarship via tax documents or enrollment in government support programs, and by filling out the FAFSA.
  • Adjusted gross family income (AGI) of $110,000 or less (as shown on your most recent tax returns).
  • Substantial unmet need (at least $5,000) as determined by college financial aid award letter (you will likely not know this at time of application).
  • Senior at accredited high school in Massachusetts.
  • Enrolling as a full-time freshman to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at a four-year college with a strong track record of supporting students through graduation and into successful careers.
  • Strong academic record (enrolled in a demanding, college-prep course of study).
  • Involved in a balance of community, school, and work activities.
  • Ability to articulate goals and future plans.
